Most closing gifts are gone in a week. A closing gift rekey stays in your client’s hand every single day.
Looking for real estate closing gifts that last? Your client gets the keys, the deal closes, and life gets busy. A rekey as a closing gift gives your buyer new keys that only they control, from you. The question is not whether they liked working with you. It’s whether they remember you when a friend asks for an agent. A closing-gift rekey is a practical way to stay in that picture.
Why a rekey makes a good closing gift
Nobody knows how many copies of the old keys are out there: past owners, contractors, neighbors, a dog walker from years ago. A rekey means the old keys stop working, and the new keys are tested in front of the buyer.
NAR’s 2025 Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers found that 91% of buyers say they would use their agent again or recommend them, but only 18% actually go back to their past agent when they buy again. Being liked isn’t enough. Being remembered is what brings them back. Source: NAR highlights. See the numbers on our closing gift page.
What the new homeowner gets with a closing gift rekey
- A rekey of all exterior doors, on closing day or the next working morning, as a gift from you.
- Old keys stop working. New keys tested in front of the buyer.
- Door adjustment included. On every lock or door job, we also adjust the door so it closes and latches smoothly.
- Four keys with every rekey. A fresh set for the new owner.
- A plain-language walkthrough: what we did and what to watch for.
- A branded gift certificate, plus the keys on a specially made keychain with your name and a “Welcome Home” message, or any other message you'd like on it.
Closing gift rekey pricing, by door count
Packages are priced by number of doors, not cylinders. Doors are easier for clients to count: front, back, side, and the door from the garage into the house. Each door counts as 2 cylinders, even if it has only one lock (a front door with only a deadbolt counts as two).
Every rekey includes: the rekey itself, door adjustment, and four keys.
Agent pricing, not retail. These rates are only for real estate agents buying the rekey as a closing gift for a client. They are not our homeowner rates. See how the closing gift works →
An agent-friendly range: most homes land between $200 and $500, with more than 6 doors by quote.
Rekey only. Replacing faulty, old or very cheap locks costs extra, and any hardware is extra. Nobody pays for extras without saying yes first. These prices are for jobs near Dunwoody in the North Atlanta service area; jobs much farther away, such as about an hour’s drive, have a travel fee. Not sure how many doors? Send us the listing link. We’ll count with you.
